Healing With Horses

Schedule Your Service

Introduction

We are honored to offer our community a unique therapy that we feel blends frequency and energy medicine with modern medicine. Horses are no strangers to channeling energy and raising our spirits, and the group of horses we have chosen are no strangers to helping facilitate healing. Our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming environment to gently pull at the threads that create problems in physical, mental, and emotional well-being. You don’t need to have any horse experience to take part in this program.

RAVE REVIEWS

"Equine assisted therapy helped me work through my childhood and adult trauma. I had no idea that horses could be so healing. It is hard to open up.... but I feel like it was easier knowing that Kayla and Lindsey made sure I was seen, heard and kept safe."

WHAT IS EQUINE THERAPY?

WHAT IS EAP

Let's chat a little more about Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP), a unique and groundbreaking model, used around the country as a dynamic, powerful tool in mental health therapy. EAP specifically targets people with mental and emotional health issues, stemming from traumatic life events, chemical imbalances, cognitive disorders and a wide range of other mental and emotional health problems.

HOW HORSES ASSIST WITH HEALING

Through Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, the focus is not horsemanship or horseback riding, but rather a safe place for the client and therapist to engage in activities with a horse or horses, and use the horse(s) to help process feelings, thoughts and reactions. The horse serves as a giant “biofeedback machine” so that therapists can easily see the client’s motives, reactions and abilities. Horses are uniquely suited to this kind of therapy, because they are intuitive and will react to behavior patterns and cues that people might miss, allowing the therapist and patient to interact on a deeper level and address issues that might otherwise go unnoticed.

TREATMENT AREA'S

Studies show that Equine Assisted Psychotherapy has been helpful for patients in the following areas: assertiveness, emotional awareness, empathy, stress tolerance, flexibility, impulse control, problem-solving skills, self-actualization, independence, self-regard, social responsibility, interpersonal relationships, grief/loss, cognitive disability, ADD/ADHD, autism, personality disorders, anxiety/depression, mood disorders, PTSD, and emotional/physical trauma.

Hi everyone, my name is Kayla. I am so excited to be teaming up with Lindsey to be able to bring Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) to the Minot area. I have always been a lover of horses and have dreamed of combining my work in mental health with the healing power of horses. Both Lindsey and I enjoy helping others work through hard times or areas they would like to strengthen in their lives. It is very important to us that our clients are comfortable and feel safe in our care. We plan to start with a few groups and from there hope to group the program to reach more people and their needs.

LINDSEY JOHNSON

TWLIGHT EQUINE, LLC

Twilight Equine is a family affair, and together we raise horses, train for ourselves and clients, judge horse shows, sell tack, and offer clinics and lessons. While all of those working parts move together, I have a tendency to use intuition and muscle testing to help keep everything on the right track. This eventually led me to the Emotion Code, which I felt compelled to become certified in. Dr. Bradley Nelsons Emotion Code has served me well, and I am proud to incorporate it into my therapeutic toolbox for both horses and people. I have known Kayla and worked with her for many years. We have many traits in common, and our strengths seem to play off each other, which is why this collaboration feels so comfortable. Amongst many other roles in the cast of characters, we are spouses and mothers as well as horse(wo)men, and we are excited to help show you how horses can help you heal.

Hi, my name is Lindsey (echo "Hi, Lindsey) and I am a horse addict. Horses run deep down in my DNA, for I am not even sure how many generations back. Both sides of my family grew up farming and ranching with horses, and as time has passed, we have continued enjoying them for the sheer joy of it. Nobody has ever told me that sticking my face in a horse's mane and breathing deep was considered a therapy - but I cannot express how my horses have helped me through every stage of my life. Horses are my recreation and hobby, they're my business, and while they are also a great workload and responsibility - they are a true privilege and joy to have.
